The Ogoniland region of the Niger delta has been the victim of oil contamination for many years. The United Nations Environment Programme responded to the Government of Nigeria’s request and conducted an independent assessment of the environmental and public health impacts of oil contamination. This project marks UNEP’s efforts on the cleanup and restoration of the Ogoniland region.
