Voice for Asian Elephants Society’s mission is to end elephant slavery and protect the endangered Asian elephants that are being captured illegally from the wild. Voice for Asian Elephants will achieve their mission by educating people about the plight of captive elephants, employing strategic actions to rescue them and operating transition homes where they can roam freely until they are relocated into the wild.
VFAES will utilize as an essential educational tool “Gods in Shackles”, a multiple award-winning and United Nations nominated documentary directed and produced by VFAES President and Founder Sangita Iyer. This film will cultivate empathy and inspire shifts in attitudes as it exposes the truth behind Kerala’s festivals where Asian elephants are tortured and exploited for profit.
